At SPROGNET TRANSLATIONS, we offer Finnish translation on the highest level

Professional translation to and from Finnish

Why does Finnish sound so funny?

Kaksisataaviisikymmenvuotisjuhlakilpapurjehdus. This 46-letter word is not gibberish, but a real word – in Finnish. Directly translated, it means “twohundredandfiftyyearanniversarysailingcompetition”. The English translation is five letters longer, but you would probably want to write it differently in English and avoid a 51-letter word. That’s not the case in Finnish.

The primary reason why Finnish – to us – sounds so funny, is that it belongs to another language family, the Uralic. Danish, Norwegian and Swedish all belong to the Germanic language family, a branch of the Indo-European language family – a language family that includes a number of other language families in Asia and Europe. Most people in Finland are good at English, but in order to succeed on the Finnish market, being able to communicate in Finnish is an advantage, and most companies require professional help with this.

A Finnish translation does not only need to be linguistically correct. It should also contain the precise nuances, so it doesn’t look translated but written by a native. Adjusting terms from English to Finnish or Danish to Finnish will therefore often be required, and the skilled native translators of SPROGNET TRANSLATIONS can help with that.

The skilled Finnish translators of SPROGNET TRANSLATIONS in general only translate into their native language, know all the nuances of the Finnish language and ensure the best and most natural result. Our Finnish translators are literally Finnish.

Your Finnish translation is in safe hands with us – because we know what proper communication across borders and cultural differences means. And we are specialised in making it happen!

We know the Finnish legislation

Rules and regulations related to product safety and documentation require a lot from manufacturers of for instance technical products, food and cosmetics. It is important to use the correct Finnish terms on the informative label and ingredient list to avoid product recall. The same applies to Finnish user manuals for potentially hazardous products. Our Finnish translators are familiar with these rules and regulations.

Finnish is one of our most popular languages, but it is not the only language, which we offer. One of the many advantages of using SPROGNET TRANSLATIONS is that we can handle many languages at once.
